Who we are

We design and build saunas the way they've been made for generations: with proven materials, precise craftsmanship, and a deep respect for how heat, steam, and the human body work together.

That means an aluminum frame that won't rot or rack, a true sauna-grade vapor barrier taped and sealed at every seam, and 1×6 tongue-and-groove Western Red Cedar inside and out. It also means paying attention to the things nobody photographs — ceiling height, bench placement, air flow, heater choice.

Four elements of a good sauna

We choose only the best stoves — the ones that give the right heat and enough stone surface area for real steam.

Our design lets you throw water on the rocks as much as you like — which is, after all, one of the best experiences of sauna.

Ventilation

Vents placed in the optimal location for genuine air exchange, every time — not an afterthought cut in at the end.

Made by talented craftsmen. We never sacrifice beauty for performance — we maximise both.

The first law of löyly

Your feet belong
above the rocks.

Heat and steam pool at the stones. If your feet sit below that line, you get a sauna that's scorching at the head and cold at the floor — the most common flaw in a badly designed hot room.

Raising the footrest above the top of the heater's stones fixes it. Most builders sell that as an upgrade. We build it in.

How it's built

The parts you
never see.

A sauna lives or dies on its envelope. Ours is built to survive Michigan winters and decades of steam — because the difference between a good hot room and a great one is entirely behind the cedar.

Structural aluminum frame

Welded aluminum with integrated lift pockets, so the cabin can be craned or shed-moved onto site without racking. It won't rot, and it won't move.

Sealed, not just wrapped

A true sauna-grade vapor barrier — never the plastic-reinforced kind — with every seam, joint, and opening taped and sealed by hand.

Rockwool insulation

Mineral wool in walls and ceiling. It holds heat, tolerates moisture, and doesn't slump the way lesser batting does.

1×6 cedar, inside and out

Tongue-and-groove Western Red Cedar lines the hot room and clads the exterior. Same species, same grade, both faces.

Standing seam steel

Black standing seam steel roofing standard, with aluminum, slate, copper, and zinc available as upgrades.

IKI & Homecraft heat

Commercial-grade 9kW and 15kW heaters, wall or pillar mount, with app-based WiFi control available across the range.

Three tiers.
No guesswork.

One wood system across the whole lineup — interior and exterior specified separately, so you can run clear cedar where you'll see it and knotty where you won't. Custom species available off-menu on request.

Tier One

Knotty Western Red Cedar

The standard on every Timber sauna, interior and exterior. Warm, aromatic, and genuinely the right wood for the job — not a base-model compromise.

Thermo Pine

Heat-treated for dimensional stability and a deeper, more uniform tone. A quieter, more modern look that weathers evenly.

Clear Cedar, Thermo Aspen or Radiata Pine

Knot-free, furniture-grade material. Clear Cedar or Thermo Aspen inside; Clear Cedar or Radiata Pine outside — your choice, same price either way.

Accessibility

Everyone gets
to sit in the heat.

Two of our nine models are built to ADA accessibility standards — not adapted afterward, but drawn that way from the first line. The Irish Settler ADA and the Gather ADA are full Timber saunas in every respect.

  • Flush, zero-step entry threshold at a wide 36" door
  • Mapped 60" wheelchair turning space at the bench and heater zone
  • Low transfer bench positioned for an easy move from a chair
  • Non-slip cedar decking and dimmable under-bench LED for low-vision comfort
  • Guard railing around the heater, standard on ADA models

Final step-free access depends on site grading and installation — we work through siting with you before anything is built.

Our story

It started in our grandparents' backyard.

We are a family company with roots in Northern Michigan. We grew up spending summers and snowy weekends in our grandparents' wood-fired Finnish sauna, the one they built decades ago behind the house.

Health, warmth, laughter — and the unique rhythm of hot, cold, rest, rinse, repeat — shaped our childhood and left us with a deep love for authentic Finnish sauna culture.

Today we're committed to building saunas our Finnish ancestors would be proud of.
